Carved wooden mask with polychrome decoration. This photograph was taken in 1993 at the Science Museum's Hayes Store, Middlesex, prior to the store's closure later that year. The mask depicts a red-beaked creature and incorporates a flower, two birds and a cobra. Masks such as these were used in Sri Lanka during ceremonies, healing rituals and plays.
