Description

Reconstruction in the Wellcome Gallery, Science Museum, showing a scientist using an electron microscope. This type of microscope uses a stream of electrons instead of light rays. The electrons are controlled by electric or magnetic fields. Greater magnification and greater depth of focus are posible than with the optical microscope. It was first developed in Germany in about 1930.
