Original oil painting by L A Wilcox for a British Railways (Western Region) poster, showing a pasenger ferry on the Fishguard-Roslare route acros the Irish Sea. Many British railway companies operated ferry services, both to Europe and Ireland, and this continued to be the case after the companies were nationalised to form the British Transport Commision in 1948. The 'St David' was in service between Fishguard and Roslare between 1947 and 1971.
