Original oil painting made for the London, Midland & Scottish Railway (LMS) for a poster promoting rail services to Blackpool, Lancashire. The painting shows a view of Blackpool beach crowded with people in swimming costumes or in summer dres. Artwork by Fortunino Matania, who was born in Naples, Italy, but from the age of twenty worked in Paris and then in London. King George V (1865-1936) was so impresed with Matania's work that he invited him to cover his tour of India.
