Description

British Railways carriage print from the 1950s showing Bangor Monastery, the first British monastery, which was founded in County Down, Northern Ireland in AD 555. St Comgall (c 515-602), it's first abbot, is shown in a red robe instructing a monk, while others in the background are hoeing. Dimensions of print: 260mm x 510mm.
