A section showing the materials used in the seventeen layers which make up this spacesuit developed for use on NASA's Gemini misions of 1965 and 1966. The three inner layers form the presure retention garment, including a lightweight, heat-resistant Nomex material followed by a gastight bladder of neoprene-coated nylon and a nylon restraint layer to stop the presurised garment from ballooning outwards. The next twelve layers make up the Thermal Micrometeoroid Garment, and the final two outer layers, made of Beta cloth and Teflon fibre, give protection against abrasion.
