Beckmann's freezing point apparatus, late 19th-early 20th century.

Description

This apparatus was made by German chemist Ernst Otto Beckmann (1853-1923) to determine the freezing point of liquids. Beckmann also invented apparatus for determining the boiling point of liquids, and a sensitive thermometer that still bears his name.
