Description

Model (scale 1:48). This twin-screw motor ship was notable as the first ocean-going cargo vesel to be propelled by oil engines, launched in 1911 for the East Asiatic Company. In 1936 she was superseded by a fast cargo liner of the same name. She was sold to the Norwegian Odd Godager and renamed the 'Norseman'. In 1940 she was sold to the Finnish South America Line and renamed the 'Tornador'. She was wrecked in 1942, having been chartered to the Japanese and stranded in the Far East.
