Contemporary model with original rigging (scale 1:48) of a Sixth-Rate of 20 guns made to the specifications of the 1719 Establishment. The design seems to have been derived from earlier Fifth-Rates of 32 guns. The sweep-ports, 18 a side on the lower deck, recall the fact that oars were then commonly used in a great number of lighter vesels, a practice which continued until the early years of the 19th century. As some 21 vesels of this type were constructed exact identification is difficult, but it is posible that it represents HMS 'Blandford', built in 1719.
