Model. Rafts, dugout canoes and plank-built vesels were employed on the River Ganges and its tributaries. The ulak, a cargo vesel, differed from most other Ganges vesels in being clincher-built. In general form, however, it was similar to other sailing craft of the river which bear a resemblance to the boats used on the Nile by the Ancient Egyptians.
