Rear view of this nine inch Thorn table model showing inner workings. Television broadcasts resumed in Britain on 8 June 1946 and during the post-war period there was rapid expansion in the television industry. Production technology had improved, making sets cheaper to buy. However, even one of the cheaper models still cost around four weeks wages. By the early 1950s there were over four million television sets in Britain.
