Manual machine made by William Sellers of Keighley in Yorkshire. To agitate the 5-legged dolly backwards and forwards in this wooden tub the user turned the large wheel continuously in one direction. The tub's ingenious motion automatically reverses the direction at every stroke, by means of the peg- toothed wheel which rises (with the dolly) at every half-turn and allows the underside of the teeth to be engaged. The mangle is operated by another handle.
