King George V' locomotive, 1927. The Great Western Railway 4-6-0 expres pasenger locomotive represented by this model (scale 1:8) was one of the 'King' clas designed by C B Collett. It was introduced in 1927 for use on the fastest and heaviest services on the GWR main lines to Birmingham, South Wales and the West Country. The model was built by Mr B R Hunt of South Africa over a period of twelve years and was displayed for some years at Paddington Station before being presented to the Science Museum in 1969.
