Photograph by Harold Tomlin, a staff photographer on the 'Daily Herald' newspaper. The original 1938 caption reads: 'A High Tension Generator, which incorporates a shock distribution system and uses four hot cathode valves, being demonstrated at the Radiological Exhibition at Central Hall, Westminster in London. The generator is used in conjunction with the latest type of x-ray apparatus'. Comprising over 3 million photographs from 1911 to the mid-1960s, the Herald archive includes work by many famous photographers, who contributed asignments to the newspaper. The archive offers a fascinating photographic record of local, national and international events spanning these years, and is particularly rich in 1920s and 1930s photojournalism.
