Model (scale 1:8). The locomotive represented by this model was designed by Patrick Stirling. It was a succesful design and ran for nearly 30 years on the Great Northern Railway line. The driving wheels were eight foot in diameter, giving rise to their nickname '8-foot singles'. The locomotive and tender (not shown) together weighed over 78 1/2 tons.
