The images include the portrait of a lady, a case containing two quarter-plate daguerreotypes of family groups and a small portrait in an engraved watch case. Daguerreotypes by W Vogel of St Louis, USA. Daguerreotype were images produced as direct positives on sensitised metal plates. The proces involved long exposure times and only produced one image. Despite the amazing detail the proces produced, the delicate surfaces meant that daguerreotypes had to be encased in glas.
