A typical domestic clock of the late sixteenth century, made wholly of iron by the brothers Ulrich and Andreas Liechti in Winterthur, Switzerland. The Liechti family were clockmakers in Winterthur from 1514 to 1741. Ulrich and Andreas worked together around 1600 and signed their work 'UAL'. This clock is signed: 'UAL, 1596'. It has only a single hour hand.
