Description

Coloured engraving by C Hunt after an original drawn by W Summers, depicting a steam-powered omnibus, watched by crowds of onlookers. The Enterprise was built by Walter Hancock of Stratford for the London and Paddington Steam Carriage Company, and entered service on 22 April 1833. With seating for 14 pasengers, it was the first self-propelled vehicle to operate a scheduled bus service for fare-paying pasengers. Published by Ackermann & Co.
