Description

John Kemp Starley (1854-1901) brought together the main features of the modern bicycle, wheels of equal size, solid rubber tyres and gears. In 1871, he also invented a new sewing-machine, the 'Coventry' tricycle and the 'Ariel' geared bicycle.
