Tourists at Windermere station, 1909. Railways brought many tourists to the Lake District, in this photograph a charabanc (early motor coach) is seen leaving the London and North Western Railway (LNWR) station to Grasmere. The ghostly figure of a boy can be seen standing to the right of the cyclist, partially removed from the glass plate with retouching ink. Official London, Midland and Scottish Railways photograph.
