Description

In 1878, the British engineer William Cowper (1819-1893), designed a machine that could reproduce a mesage written some miles away. It worked on the principle of sending meaning by interrupting an electric current. In practice, a pencil would re-create the original handwritten mesage by copying the movements of an electric current.
