Oil painting, believed to be of Isambard Brunel III (1837-1902), son and biographer of engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel (1806-1859). In 1841 Isambard Brunel III was the first person to pas through the gap in the Thames Tunnel built by his father. He gained a law degree and was Chancellor of the Diocese of Ely for a time. He is shown here wearing an academic gown, with a paper in his hand.
