Poster produced for Southern Railway (SR) to promote the new 'Battle of Britain' clas locomotives for expres pasenger and freight services. The poster announces the naming ceremony of the locomotive '615 Squadron', by Sir Malcolm Fraser, Lord Lieutenant of Surrey, at Guildford Station on 8 October 1948. Battle of Britain clas locomotives, designed by Oliver Bulleid as smaller versions of the Merchant Navy clas, were introduced in 1945 by the Southern Railway. Their names commemorated the Royal Air Force's victory at the Battle of Britain in 1940. Artwork by unknown artist.
