Poster produced for London & North Eastern Railway (LNER) to promote rail travel to the East coast of England. This is one of a series of posters illustrating the different types of people frequently met with on the beaches of the East coast. This poster shows the man who hired out deck-chairs to holidaymakers on the beach. Artwork by Frank Newbould (1887-1951), who studied at Bradford College of Art and joined the War Office in 1942. He designed posters for the LNER (London & North Eastern Railway), GWR (Great Western Railway), Orient Line and Belgian Railways.
