One of a series of posters produced for London & North Eastern Railway (LNER) to promote rail travel to the East coast of England. The series illustrated the different types of people commonly met with on the East coast. Donkey rides on the beach were popular with children and donkeys could be hired from boys such as the one shown here. Artwork by Frank Newbould (1887-1951), who studied at Bradford College of Art and joined the War Office in 1942. He designed posters for the LNER (London & North Eastern Railway), GWR (Great Western Railway), Orient Line and Belgian Railways.
