Poster produced for Southern Railway (SR) to advertise the resumption of pasenger services from Southhampton to St Malo and the Channel Islands after the Second World War. The TS Falaise carried 1,527 pasengers, up to 31 cars and was equipped with radar and radio telephone facilities. The ship was oil-fired and had a maximum speed of 20 knots per hour. Artwork by Norman Wilkinson, who studied art at Portsmouth and Southsea Schools of Art. A famous marine painter, he designed posters for the London & North Western Railway (LNWR), the London & Midlands Railway (LMR) and Southern Railway (SR). Dimensions: 1016 mm x 1270 mm.
