Description

Poster produced for the London, Midland & Scottish Railway (LMS), showing workers in a pottery, loading unfired crockery into an industrial-sized kiln. Plates, bowls, jugs and tureens are shown on shelves, awaiting firing. Several towns within Stoke-on-Trent form the Staffordshire Potteries region which, from the 18th century, became the heart of the English china and earthenware ceramics industry. Artwork by Norman Wilkinson (1878-1971). Printed by McCorquodale & Co Ltd, Glasgow and London.
