'England - Belgium via Dover', SR poster, 1923-1947.

Poster produced for the Southern Railway (SR) to promote services between England and Belgium via Dover and Ostend, which is here promoted as the 'shortest and cheapest route'. The poster shows a map indicating the route from London to Dover through to Ostend, with further destinations in Belgium shown. Through tickets from London were also offered for tours of the Belgian coast by electric trams. Artwork by Charles 'Shep' Shepherd, who studied art under Paul Woodroffe and was head of the studio at the Baynard Press. He designed posters for the Royal Mail Packet Steam Company and London Transport as well as SR. Dimensions: 1016 mm x 635 mm.
