As the 6:05pm train from Liverpool Street Station, London, to Southend was passing through Forest Gate Sunday night, the communication cord was pulled and the train was stopped near Ilford. Railway officials then found a woman in a third class compartment suffering from severe injuries to the head. The injuries had apparently been inflicted with a hammer, and a man has been detained. The woman is Mrs Ellen Heaney of St Swithins Lane, London, E.C. Mrs Heaney is a vocalist whose professional name is Miss Nellie Beare, and she was on her way to sing at a church in Ilford, Essex.
