A photograph of a young girl, Hazel Armstrong, survivor of a British steam ship sunk by a German U-boat in October 1939, in which her mother was killed. This photograph was featured in the 'Daily Herald' newspaper juxtaposed with a photograph of Adolf Hitler "Friend of the Children", taken by Hitler's official photographer, Heinrich Hoffmann. This photograph has been selected from the Daily Herald Archive, a collection of over three million photographs. The archive holds work of international, national and local importance by both staff and agency photographers. 26-Oct-39.
