An A4 class 4-6-2 locomotive number 2509 "Silver Link" at King's Cross station, by F E Box, 16 June 1938. This streamlined locomotive was designed by Sir Nigel Gresley and was built at Doncaster works. It was used to haul passenger trains between London and Scotland. The carriages these locomotives pulled were painted a silver-blue colour, and many of the locomotives were therefore given "silver" names.
