"This photograph was displayed at Manchester London Road station, as a publicity photograph for the London, Midland & Scottish Railway. At this time people were beginning to get more paid holidays and leisure time. However, the railways were starting to come into competition with road transport and were in competition with the other companies, so it was very common for the companies to advertise their destinations."
