"This carriage, number 12889 has been put onto its swivelling wheel units or 'bogies'. Newton Heath carriage works opened in 1877, producing and repairing carriages and wagons for the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway. It closed in 1932, despite the works having one of the largest rolling stock outputs in Britain."
