Description

"London, Midland & Scottish Railway motorised fire engine. Horwich works had their own fire brigade in case of fire in the works. The works were also responsible for attending to fires in Horwich town, until 1939, when the council took over that responsibility. Fire fighting equipment was carried on a horse drawn cart, until the 1920s when motor vehicles were used instead."
