British actress Anna Neagle dressed as Emma in a dramatisation of the book of the same name by Jane Austen. Photograph by John Hinde. Hinde produced postcards with social history in mind becoming one of the first photographers to use colour for this purpose. The colours (produced using the tricolour carbro process) are Technicolor bright and the contents were carefully staged. He became one of the successfull postcard publishers in the world.
