Description

The globe was made by John Senex. It is a very crudely engraved glass sphere showing the principal stars and figures of the constellations, the celestial equator, polar circles, and tropic circles. The ecliptic is marked with two calendars, the Gregorian and the Julian. At the centre of the sphere is a terrestrial globe, three inches in diameter. The globe is associated with Dr Stephen Demainbray (1710-1782), a famous lecturer in the 18th century.
