Description

Two illustrations from the Report of the Children's Employment Commission, 1842. The first image shows a girl and boy 'putting' a hutchie backwards along a tunnel. The second image shows a girl on all fours, dragging a slype along a lower tunnel. The report says that the children's exhaustion and tears are 'painful in the extreme to witness'.
