This station had links to the London & North Western Railway, as there was a connection from Dublin's North Wall docks, on the river Liffey, to Holyhead and from there to London. Ireland was a popular holiday destination at this time. Tourists came to visit the historic buildings in Dublin and the Irish countryside.
