Bronze statue by Eduardo Paolozzi (1924-2005), inspired by William Blake's famous image of English mathematician Sir Isaac Newton (1643-1727) using a pair of dividers to plot the immensity of the universe. The British Library houses the British Museum's book collection. The library's present home on Euston Road was purpose-built, and opened in 1998.
