This 7-inch TV set, which cost 22 guineas when new, is surprisingly heavy. The internal electronics are mounted on a steel frame which allowed the entire set to be easily removed from the cabinet for servicing. It is also a 'vision only' set - saving about £5 on the purchase price of a normal TV by buying one which had no sound. The purchaser then had to rely on using a suitable radio set to amplify the TV sound. This idea didn't really catch on however, as it saved comparatively little money in the real cost of construction of a television receiver.
