Description

This locomotive No 46220 climbs the southern slope of Beattock Bank with the assistance of a banking engine, while the Elvan Water flows in the foreground. Photograph by Bishop Eric Treacy. Treacy was often allowed special access to many areas denied to other railway photographers. He also befriended many of the footplate crews, occasionally persuading them to create special smoke effects for the camera.
