An illustration from an article entitled 'L'Absinthe Tueuse' (Absinthe the Killer) which appeared in the February 1907 issue of the journal 'Je Sais Tout'. The huge glass represents the massive annual alcohol consumption of the average Frenchman. The captions explains that one in ten Frenchmen drinks a hundred litres of alcohol a year.
