Photograph by Linnaeus Tripe (1822-1902) of goods from the port of Visakhapatnam in Madras. Tripe was an official photographer for the British Government, employed to document Southern Indian archaeological remains before they further decayed. He used the waxed paper negative for ease of preparation and portability and produced a stunning body of work still largely in pristine condition.
