'10,000 copies of the 15 cent scarlet Cabot 1897 series were overprinted for use on the Vickers-Vimy Handley Page and any subsequent trans-Atlantic flights. Each sheet consisted of 7 normals, 7 without comma, and one without comma or stop. Issued June 7. Pair showing one copy without comma and one normal. [Card] Signed by one of the aviators, Rear-Admiral Mark Kerr. Card carried on Handley Page trans-Atlantic attempt. The machine left Harbour Grace on June 15, but developed engine trouble and the flight was abandoned early in July. The ovel cachet is rare, being applied to only a portion of the mail.'
