Photograph of the stone on the Ribblehead Viaduct commemorating the restoration of the viaduct in 1991, North Yorkshire, by Lynn Patrick, 1994. This viaduct, on the 72 mile long Settle to Carlisle line, was opened in 1876. The stonework had deteriorated badly by the 1980s, due to erosion caused by wind and rain and restoration work was needed to ensure that the structure was safe.
