Medal for the Nobel Prize for Physics, awarded to British physicist Joseph John Thomson (1856-1940) in 1906. The design shows a relief profile of Alfred Nobel, designed and signed by Erik Lindberg in 1902. The prize was awarded by the Nobel Institute, Stockholm, Sweden, 'in recognition of the great merits of his theoretical and experimental investigations on the conduction of electricity by gases'.
