Stainless steel and plastic pacemaker made by Vitatron Medical, Dieren, Netherlands. The electronic pacemaker was designed to regulate the beating of the heart, and was first introduced in the 1960s. Placed internally, near the heart, it produced regular electric signals, improving the heart's ability to beat with a more consistent rhythm.
