This bicycle, made by T I Raleigh Industries Ltd at the Lenton Boulevard works in Nottingham, was specially designed for young people. By deliberately adapting certain design features from contemporary motorcycle practice, such as high raised handlebars, dual seat saddle, and a central gear-change lever, the manufacturers produced a novel form of bicycle which was intended to appeal to boys and girls from 8 to 14 years of age. It became an immediate success.
