A photographic portrait of Lady Randolph Churchill (1854-1921), taken at the studio of Herbert Rose Barraud, Oxford Street, London, in about 1885. Daughter of an American business tycoon, Jennie Jerome, as she began life, married Lord Randolph Churchill in Paris, 1874. Their son, Winston Churchill (1874-1965), was born prematurely seven months later. Lady Randolph was well known on the London social scene and a particular friend to the Prince of Wales (1841-1910).
