A photograph of people in a village scene, taken by George Davison [1854-1930] in 1888. A woman sweeps the step outside her cottage as children play nearby, bathed in sunshine. A boy slowly pushes a wheelbarrow down the street. Davison has captured the slower pace of rural living with a romantic view of a typical English village. This photograph was shown at the Vienna International Photographic Exhibition of 1888. George Davison was a noted pictorial photographer and a founder member of The Linked Ring in 1892. In 1897 he became assistant manager of the Eastman Photographic Materials Company, renamed in 1898, Kodak Limited. He became managing director in 1900.
